Memorandum <br />CIfCPIN� &- 41SSOCIAT-CS <br />r�u� HOAru <br />TO: Little Canada Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer <br />DATE: July 21, 2006 <br />RE: 2006 Street & Utility Reconstruction <br />Change Order #2 <br />Background <br />When the Contractor for the street project began removals on Rose Lane and Morrison <br />Street it was determined that there were sections of the roadway where the existing soil <br />conditions did not match the soil boring report. These sections contain poor soils that <br />require an additional 6 -inch soil correction in order to provide a suitable road base. <br />Summary and Recommendations <br />It is our recommendation to proceed with a soil correction to address the poor soils <br />encountered on Rose Lane and Morrison Street. The correction would consist of <br />removal of an additional 6- inches of in -place material and replacement with aggregate <br />base. The exact limits of the correction necessary will not be known until all of the <br />subgrade is exposed. Based on initial inspections, the cost of the soil correction is <br />estimated at $13,952.63.
