lWU1RINC U(I.AT.S
December 13, 2006
File No. 120015E -0071
Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road E.
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1633
RE: 2004 STREET RECONSTRUCTION & UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
FINAL PAY ESTIMATE NO. 8
Dear Council Members:
Enclosed are three copies of Final Pay Estimate No. 8 for Frattalone Companies on the 2004
Street Reconstruction & Utility Improvement project. To date the Contractor has earned
$1,200,610.24. Subtracting previous payments of $1,139,063.58, the amount due the
Contractor is $61,548.66.
This payment releases all retainage currently being held and would represent closeout of the
project. During our final project inspection, we identified a small street settlement on Twin Lake
Road that must be corrected next spring. While holding retainage to ensure this correction is
completed is an option, the Contractor has indicated that they would like to provide a separate
bond to the City for completion of this work thereby allowing the project to be closed. We have
indicated to the Contractor that, if allowed, an $8,000 bond would be the amount required. This
amount would ensure that the City could have the correction made if the current Contractor
failed to complete the work.
We have inspected the work preformed by Frattalone and find it to be in compliance with the
plans, specifications, and contract documents. Due to the time of year and the desire to
closeout the project, we would recommend final payment to the Contractor in the amount of
$61,548.66 contingent on an $8,000 bond being provided to the City for the street patch work
and all other required final documents being received.
If you have any questions regarding this issue please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
Elfering & Associates
Lee Elfering
City Engineer
Enclosure
Ltr- 121306 -CC (Final Payment #8)
10062 Flanders Court NE, Blaine, MN 55449 — Ph: (763) 780 -0450 — Fax: (763) 780 -0452
