Glenn R. Levine
145 Lake St E
Little Canada, MN 55117
Mr. Joel Hanson
Little Canada City Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Re: Planning Commission
Dear Mr. Hanson:
I am interesting in serving on this commission because I believe I have a unique
background and work experience that would help the commission in their mission to
provide the city council with planning advice in this area.
My family and I moved to our current home in Little Canada in March of 2002. As such,
we have been residents here for over 4 '/ years. We originally purchased our home as a
real estate investment on a property that was going into foreclosure. However, after
remodeling our entire house both inside and out and living in the area for several years
we decided to stay in Little Canada because we like it so much. My daughter Samantha
attends Little Canada Elementary School and is in kindergarten. My wife Laura works at
home and takes care of our two year old, Alexa.
We have a high degree of concern for our community and we work to improve our
neighborhood, watch the park on Lalce St., etc. I recently attended a Park Commission
meeting regarding the expansion of Nadeau Nature Center.
I feel that my experience as a four -year U.S. Navy veteran (honorable discharge), a
graduate of the U of MN, and my Master's degree in Management from Concordia
(pending thesis) will all add value to the work of the Commission.
In my current work, I oversee 37 Arby's restaurants and some 1,700 employees. Part of
my work responsibilities involves the location and construction of new restaurants.
Therefore, I am versed in the nuances of real estate development, retail centers, traffic
patterns and counts, etc. This experience would benefit the Commission, I believe,
Additionally, I am a long -term real estate investor with two rental units I manage in
Minneapolis. As such, I am familiar with the dynamics of rental property and the
importance of its upkeep, and how those factors impact the quality of life for
communities. We have many rental property units in Little Canada that are apparently
poorly managed. It is my hope that if accepted as a member of the Commission, my
work could somehow impact this issue and raise the quality of our community.
