MINUTES
CANADIAN
WOODS
amasonStivalagentO
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
December 7, 2006
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission
of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 7th day of December, 2006 in the
Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City.
Vice -Chair Pam Davis called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and the following members of
the Commission were present:
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Ms. Pam Davis, Vice -Chair
Ms. Linda Fahey
Mr. Jim Fleischhacker
Ms. Clara Neis
Mr. Kevin Steinert
Ms. Ruth Steinwall
MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Tony Mans, Chair
ALSO PRESENT:
Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant
Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary
Neis recommended that the minutes from the meeting held on November 2, 2006 be approved
as submitted.
Motion seconded by Steinwall.
Motion carried 6— 0.
Pat Johnson appeared before the Commission to request that the Commission accept cash
in lieu of land for the park charge on his property located east of LaBore Road. He owns
approximately 10 acres of land that he is developing into six single family lots. In the past, he
had expressed an interest in donating a portion of the land to the city for his park charge, but due
to financial reasons, he has decided that cash would be the better option for him. He indicated
that he has been talking to a resident from Maplewood who is interested in buying Outlot "B"
from him. He also stated that he needs Outlot `B" to provide enough acreage to sell lot 7 at a
higher price. Additionally, he stated that he plans on building on lot 7 for himself and would
like the additional land the Outlot `B" provides. Johnson indicated that he will be requesting
preliminary plat approval from the Council at their meeting on December 20`n
The Director stated that if adequate access could be obtained, Outlot `B" would make a nice
location for a trail and nature area. Access from the north would be nice since a connection
could be made to the power line trail. However, the property owner to the north has not
indicated a willingness to grant that access at this time. The Director stated that as properties in
the area are developed, the city could acquire additional land to make a trail system work. He
Page 1 of 3
