This
is a Conditional Use in the district.
In reviewing this request, city staff realized that the outdoor storage standards in the I -P
district are not as detailed as they are in the 1 -1 zoning district. The reason for this memo
is to have the Council review the current zoning code standards below to determine if
similar standards should be applied to the [ -P zoning district, specifically the regulation
of storage container outdoor storage.
Staff would like to bring your attention the definition of outdoor storage. It would be
staff's recommendation that this definition be modified to specifically mention storage
containers as an accessory use. Currently, containers would need to be considered as
equipment or materials. By adding storage containers to the definition, we better clarify
the use as acceptable.
Zoning Code Definition
Outdoor Storage: An accessory use of property for storage of equipment or
materials that do not need protection from the weather, or the keeping of utility
trailers (but not including semi- trailers) no greater than twelve (12) feet high,
eight (8) feet wide, or thirty (30) feet in length, in which materials are housed, or
on which equipment is stored. No trailers (including semi- trailers) may be used to
house continuous accessory storage, and all such trailers must be moved off -site
no less than twenty live (25) percent of the year.
a. Outdoor Storage Equipment: Mechanized construction equipment and the
like which is capable of moving under its own power.
