SS &nada
MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jinn LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766-4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.eLlittle-eanada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor Blesener & Members of City Council
From: Bill Direks, Public Works Superintendent
Date: November 17, 2006
Re: Tool Cat
The City has budgeted money in 2007 for the purchase of a Bobcat brand Tool Cat utility
machine. The machine will be used mainly to remove snow from sidewalks in the winter
and to mow boulevards in the summer. Staff also anticipates many additional uses for the
machine. Tri -State Bobcat in Little Canada provided a quote of $47,172.77 if the City
purchases the Tool Cat in 2007. The City would have to order a machine to be built and
would probably take ownership in February at the earliest.
Tri -State Bobcat has one new Tool Cat sitting on its lot that it is trying to sell. They have
given the City a price of $44,730.00 to purchase it and take possession immediately. The
price for Tool Cats for 2006 was $45,172.77. So the City would receive a slight discount
off of the 2006 price and an even more significant discount off of the 2007 price.
Because of these savings and the ability to take immediate possession, staff recommends
purchasing the remaining Tool Cat from Tri -State Bobcat at a price of $44,730.00.
