No matter where you place
a streetlight on our front property, you would take away from the appealing landscape we
have put in place. You will create nothing short of an eyesore, thereby reducing the value
of our property. In addition, you will be interfering with the continued growth and
overall appearance of our landscaping.
Reason number 2: As stated in Little Canada's own memorandum dated 10/20/06, the optimal
location for the requested streetlight is the SE corner. This location also happens to be
the location of the existing street sign and already has future screening in place by way
of the young pine trees in place. These trees already provide a natural screening for our
neighbors, but will all grow to maturity that will provide adequate covers to the proposed
streetlight.
We recently spent $1100.00 re- landscaping our back yard after Excel came through and took
out all the trees. We are extremely disappointed that now our front yard has been targeted
for more blight. We encourage each and every member of the Little City Council and the
Mayor to visit our location at 785 Windward Way. We believe you will be in agreement that
placing a streetlight in our yard will be reminiscent of an inner city dwelling.
Please do not sacrifice our hard work and property value for a cost. If a choice has to be
made due to cost, then do not install the streetlight.
Thank you,
Jim and Denise Whalen
785 Windward Way
651 481 1226 home
651 236 3581 Denise work
2
