✓ Clean-up day funding by Allied and free pick -up to City properties may no longer be
included (still being negotiated). They are not included in the Blaine or North St. Paul
contracts.
✓ They would like a seven -year contract and I would concur if we receive an acceptable
document.
While I believe we had made good progress, I am still not comfortable with their proposal. I
have told them we would accept the same contract as North St. Paul, but they have been
unwilling to do that. (The North St. Paul contract also has an additional charge of $1.72 per
home per month for "bulky item" pickup. This allows residents to dispose of appliances,
mattresses, furniture, etc with no additional charge. This concept has some appeal in that it
would negate the need for a citywide clean up day for items other than yard waste, clothing, and
electronics. I'm not sure the haulers will give us this option.)
I will attempt to resolve this matter prior to Wednesday's meeting. I have also told the haulers
that if we cannot resolve this, we will need to act quickly if we need to bid out our contract.
-2
