MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
OCTOBER 12, 2006
the new brand sign (E02) is 84 square feet. Ringh asked if these two signs
are combined if the square footage could be 184 square feet.
The City Planner felt the proposal would be more acceptable if the two
signs were combined.
Knudsen felt that the combination of these signs would still achieve
Shurgard's business objectives.
The Planning Commission expressed concern about the number of
temporary signs at the Shurgard property, and asked if the proper peiwits
have been taken out for these signs. Ringh stated that her company was
not involved in the temporary signage. The Commission asked that the
Code Enforcement Officer inspect the property to ensure that temporary
signage is in compliance.
The City Planner felt that combination of the two wall signs on the south
elevation should be with similar square footage to what is currently there,
that is 124 square feet. The Planner indicated that if the proposal is thus
modified, only an administrative approval would be necessary.
Ringh felt that this could be worked out.
The City Planner noted that the new internal sign (NO1) has no impact to
the property. He also recommended that signs NO2 and E02 be combined
with similar square footage to what currently exists.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Duray recommended approval of the Amendment to PUD allowing
additional signage in excess of what has been allowed by the PUD
Agreement subject to the combination of signs NO2 and E02 into one sign
that does not increase over the 125 square feet of signage that would be
replaced, and subject to the applicant meeting with the Code Enforcement
Officer to review the total sign plan and ensure that it is acceptable.
Motion seconded by Rheaume.
Motion carried 7 — 0.
3
