The fire ring /pit is in compliance. I have discussed all of the recreational fire requirements with the homeowner and he has assured me the fire ring /pit will remain in compliance. 2002. RECREATIONAL FIRES 2002.010. Fires set in a fireplace, pit, or fire ring for recreational purposes or food preparation purposes shall be permitted within the City of Little Canada only after meeting the following conditions: 1. The recreational fire or cooking fire shall be contained in a fireplace, pit or fire ring, designed for recreational or cooking purposes; 2. The size of the fire shall not exceed 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet; 3. The fire must be located at least 25 feet from the nearest structure and /or motor vehicle; 4. A garden hose and water supply or other fire - extinguishing equipment must be available and a competent person of at least 18 years of age must be in constant attendance until the fire has been extinguished; 5. No fire shall be permitted if the wind is in excess of 10 miles per hour; 6. Only clean wood may be used as fuel, and no fire accelerants shall be allowed. No yard waste (leaves and grass clippings) is allowed; and 7. A recreational fire shall be extinguished immediately if it generates smoke that becomes a nuisance to adjacent or nearby properties. 19
