Hanson <br />City staff is recommending a couple of housekeeping amendments to the Personnel <br />Policy. The first amendment to Section 14 clarifies that employee leaves without pay <br />may be granted for circumstances that are not considered to be an emergency. The <br />second amendment clarifies that smoking is not permitted in any City -owned building. <br />There are as outlined below: <br />SECTION 14 — LEAVES WITHOUT PAY <br />Emergency Leave /Furlough Leave - Permission to take emergency leave without pay <br />may be granted to each regular employee after one year's service who, in the opinion of <br />the City Administrator, furnishes adequate proof that a personal matter necessitates <br />attention. The City Administrator may also grant furlough leave to a Cif employee for <br />leaves without pay provided such furlough leave does not create an undue hardship on the <br />City. No longer than ten (10) days will be granted within each calendar year. Requests <br />in excess of ten (10) days fel, unusual- circumsumees may be granted by the City Council. <br />No employee shall absent themselves from assigned duties without notifying, at the <br />earliest possible time, his /her immediate supervisor or some other management <br />representative 1t' supervisor is not available. <br />SECTION 21 - SMOKING POLICY <br />En recognition of the fact that the City of Little Canada has an interest in encouraging <br />healthy life styles among its employees, and to assure that the City is in compliance with <br />the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act, tobacco usage shall not he permitted in any portion <br />of a City -owned building, i.e. the City Center, Public Works Maintenance Garage, Parks <br />Shop, warming houses,and City vehicles. For purposes of this policy, tobacco usage <br />includes the smoking and chewing of tobacco products as well as carrying a lighted cigar, <br />cigarette, pipe, or any other lighted smoking equipment. <br />
