May 05 06 12:17p QlftRING - 415SO(I11Tt5 May 5, 2006 File No. 120067E -0071 Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Little Canada 515 Little Canada Road East Little Canada, MN 55117 -1633 SUBJECT: 2006 Sidewalk Improvements Recommendation of Award Dear Mayor and Council Members: Bids were opened for the above referenced project at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2006 in accordance with the Advertisement for Bids. Two (2) bids were received from the following companies: Corporation Bid Amount O'Malley Construction $ 80,990.23 Buck Blacktop $103,851.55 p.2 T NC H ITA O'Malley Construction was the low bidder with their bid appearing to be in order and in compliance with the bid requirements as set forth in the Contract Documents. In addition, they have completed other sidewalk project within the City in an acceptable mariner. The engineer's estimate completed at the end of plan and specification preparation estimated the construction cost at $95,000.00. The low bid received, based on the engineer's estimate, appears to be competitive. We will be reviewing the bids to ensure that they do not contain any errors and /or omissions and finalizing the easement documents along the Country Drive section of the project. Barring any changes and based on a preliminary review of bids, we recommend award of the project to T. A. Schifsky and Sons in the amount of $80,990.23 contingent on finalization of the necessary easements along Country Drive.
