lllwater
THE BIRTHPLACE OF MINNESOTA
Dear City of Stillwater Resident,
On behalf of the City Council, I am pleased to announce that Single SortsM recycling is
coming to the City of Stillwater! Single SortaM recycling allows all recyclables to be placed
in a single container rather than being bagged and separated.
During the week of December 26, 2005 you will receive a 64- gallon heavy -duty green
cart with a yellow lid and wheels. The cart will be labeled with recycling instructions
and include a calendar showing the collection dates. Please place all of your acceptable
recyclable containers (clean glass bottles, metal cans, and narrow neck plastic bottles)
and all acceptable paper fibers (newspaper, junk mail, magazines, cardboard) into the
cart. All items can be placed in the cart loose, they do not have to be bagged or
separated.
Waste Management and the Stillwater City Council are asking that you use the 64- gallon
cart for an initial 90 days. After this initial trial period, if you find the cart is too small or
too large, you may have it switched to a larger or smaller cart by contacting Waste
Management directly at (952) 890 -1100.
Recycling collection using Single SortsM in your area will begin on your regular
collection day the week of January 9, 2006 (Green week). A calendar will be
included in information packet you receive with your new recycling cart. Your recycling
will be collected every -other -week with Single SortsM recycling. Please note there will
be no recycling collection the week of January 2, 2006. The new cart should be set at
the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day with the handle facing the house on the
opposite side of the driveway from your garbage cart.
Currently, you have a recycling bin for recyclables. You may keep the recycling bin for
personal use.
Please contact Waste Management's customer service center directly at (952) 890 -1100 with
any giestions you may have about the new recycling program. We hope that the Single
Sorts recycling system will help you and the City meet our waste management goals to
REDUCE — REUSE — RECYCLE.
Sincerely,
Jay L. Kimble
Mayor
