Hanson
As a follow -up to last year's discussion on this topic and based on our 2006 goal of addressing
crime prevention in our multi - family complexes, staff would like to discuss the following with
the City Council:
AGENDA
I. Review of Calls for Service by Complex
II. Review of Sample Rental Licensing Ordinances
A. New Brighton
B. Brooklyn Center
C. Burnsville
III. Establishment of Property Maintenance Code
IV. City's Role in Establishing an On -Site Law Enforcement Presence
V. Next Steps
Staff updated the Calls for Service Report for all multi - family complexes over four units in size.
The first part of the study provides total calls for service as reported to /by the Ramsey County
Sheriffs Department. In that study, Montreal Courts has consistently been in the top three based
on calls for service per unit from 2003 through April of 2006. The Provinces has been in the top
three since 2004! (We have received complaints about the Provinces recently, especially from
the Parkview Court townhomes.)
The next component of that analysis attempts to look at serious calls for service. Calls such as
medico's, noise complaints, and suspicious persons are not included in this calculation. In this
calculation, Montreal Courts, The Provinces, and Sleepy Hollow consistently have more serious
calls on a per unit basis.
