MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Reis
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: February 17, 2006
RE: Galba Request for Text Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance and
Conditional Use Permit
As you are aware, at the February 8, 2006 meeting the Council considered a request by
Matt and Stephanie Galba for a Zoning Ordinance Amendment and a Conditional Use
Permit to establish a recreational use in the front yard of single - family properties. At that
meeting, a motion was made to adopt the Zoning Ordinance Amendment. That motion
failed on a one to four vote of the Council (one vote in favor of adoption, four votes
against).
To ensure that the record is clear on this issue, the City Planner is recommending that the
Council act on a formal resolution denying the Text Amendment and the Conditional Use
Permit request for recreational use in the front yard proposed by Mr. and Mrs. Galba.
Attached are Findings of Fact for Denial prepared by the City Planner which should be
incorporated into the Council resolution of denial.
The City Planner will be present at Wednesday's meeting to answer any questions that
the Council might have on this issue.
