MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 9, 2008
Blesener stated that Little Canada is glad to be a part of the Roseville
School District noting its great reputation which, in turn, impacts property
values. He also noted that the St. Jude expansion is projected to add 450
new jobs in the City.
Thein indicated that the proceeds from the sale of the property will be
utilized to improve the School District's physical plant. Blesener pointed
out that the cost of these improvements will be funded by the sale
proceeds rather than tax dollars.
Thein also noted that the School District has been growing slightly each
year and has not had the problem of declining enrollments that some
districts have seen. He also noted that the Roseville Boys Hockey Team
has been doing well, the Girls Hockey Team is number one in the state,
and the Girls Gymnastics Team is number one in the nation.
2 A.M. The City Clerk reported that Bangkok Avenue has applied for renewal of
LICENSE their 2 A.M. Liquor License. She reported that the License Application is
RENEWAL- in order. There is one issue of concern at Bangkok Avenue as reported by
BANGKOK the City's Fire Marshal. That issue is inadequate trash pick up. This issue
AVENUE has been discussed with the owner of Bangkok Avenue, and hopefully it
will be resolved satisfactorily. The Clerk noted that the business's On-
Sale Wine and 3.2 Intoxicating Malt will be up for renewal within a few
months. If the trash problem is not resolved, the Council will be informed
at that time.
Robert Thao, Bangkok Avenue, appeared before the Council and
acknowledged the problem with trash pick up, and indicated that he will
be more vigilant in the future. He also noted that trash is taken out in the
evening, left alongside the dumpster, and then put into the dumpster in the
morning. This is because the trash is being taken out by one employee, is
usually heavy, and put into the dumpster in the morning when there is
assistance available to lift it into the dumpster.
Allan indicated to Thao that the trash must be placed in the dumpster
immediately when being taken out. Trash bags on the ground are not
acceptable. Thao indicated that he will ensure that trash disposal is being
handled properly.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO.2008-1-3 -APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF 2
A.M. LIQUOR LICENSE FOR BANGKOKAVENUE
3
