Staff Report

To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council

From: Bill Dircks, Public Works Director

Date: October 22, 2025

Re: Accept Grant Navigator Funding

Action To Be Considered:
Motion to approve, table, or deny the following:
• Resolution accepting the League of Minnesota Cities Grant Navigator Fund award of
$3,000.00 to fund the consulting services for grant preparation of the Labore Road
Improvement Project.

Background:
The League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) has a Grant Navigator program that aims to assist
municipalities in applying for grant funding for projects. Staff must complete a relatively short
application for the funds, and then the LMC review panel can award up to $5000 to the city to
help cover the costs of applying for the LRIP grant funds. Bolton & Menk is handling the LRIP
application and anticipates the cost to be approximately $ 3,000. If the city is successful in
getting the Grant Navigator funds, the entire LRIP application costs will likely be covered.

Staff completed the application and were notified on October 16, 2025, that we were successfully
awarded $3,000.

City policy requires the City Council to accept all grants.

Staff Recommendations:
Staff recommends approval of the resolution to accept the $3,000 award from the League of
Minnesota Cities Grant Navigator Fund for the consulting services for grant preparation of the
Labore Road Improvement Project.

Attachments:
• Resolution
