Community Building Think Tank <br />Tour of Fridley Moore Lake Park <br />Monday October 28, 5:00pm <br />Think Tank Present: Tom Fischer, Dave Miller, Theresa Miller, Amanda Gutierrez, Chris Kwapick, <br />Ron Horwath , Maggie Delong Miller, Chris Heineman, Steve Anderson, Derek Anderson <br />Think Tank Absent: None <br />Public Comment: None <br />Orientation <br />The Community Building Think Tank has been put in place to discuss the Community Gathering <br />Space in Little Canada. Team members introduced themselves and departed City Hall at 5:00pm. <br />Tour <br />Tour was led by Fridley Recreation Manager Margo Numedahl. Margo provided a tour and answered <br />questions from the think tank which included items such as project process, daily operations and <br />maintenance. <br />Background Materials <br />Parks & Recreation Director, Steven Anderson gave a brief background of previous work done: <br />x A placeholder has been put into the CIP for a Community Building in 2027. The initial <br />estimate made in 2019 was $2.5 Million dollars. <br />x In 2024, the city purchased a parcel of land at the Southwest corner of Pioneer Park for a <br />community building. <br />Key Outcomes: <br />x Understand the City’s desires/goals and work within those parameters to establish the <br />baseline project scope. <br />x (IJČÍČôϙħôƅϙŜťÍħôēĺīîôŘϙČŘĺŪŕŜϙťĺϙĖIJèīŪîôϡϙèĖťƅϙèĺŪIJèĖīϠϙŕÍŘħϙÍIJîϙŘôèϙèĺııĖŜŜĖĺIJϠϙèĖťƅϙŜťÍƯϙ <br />and advisory residents. <br />x ēôϙæŘĺÍîôŘϙèĺııŪIJĖťƅϙſĖīīϙæôϙIJĺťĖƱôîϙÍIJîϙĖIJċĺŘıôîϙÍŜϙťēôϙŜèĺŕĖIJČϙŕŘĺèôŜŜϙŪIJċĺīîŜ <br />x Identify preferred site layout, building concept, programming and rental uses and <br />approximate project cost estimate and timeline <br />Presentation <br />Parks and Recreation Director, Steven Anderson, gave a presentation at city hall that included: <br />x Virtual tours of other neighboring city community buildings including: <br />o Moore Lake Park - Fridley <br />o ®ÍħôƱôīîϙÍŘħϙ – Maplewood <br />o Glacial Valley – Cottage Grove <br />x Current and like project outcomes were discussed <br />30
