SECTION 7. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the
following definition:
Pergola: A freestanding or attached structure consisting of vertical posts or columns supporting a roof-like open
framework, typically used to provide partial shade over a patio, deck, or walkway. Pergolas are not fully
enclosed and do not include solid walls. For the purposes of this code, a pergola is considered roofed regardless
of whether the roof is solid, slatted, or open-lattice. Detached pergolas are classified as accessory buildings.

SECTION 8. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the
following definition:
Porch: A covered, unenclosed structure attached to the exterior of a building, typically at an entrance, that
provides a transition between indoor and outdoor space. A porch may be open or screened but is not fully
enclosed by solid walls or conditioned for year-round habitation.

SECTION 9. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the
following definition:
Walkway: A hard-surfaced path located on private property for pedestrian access between buildings, parking
areas, public sidewalks, or other on-site features. Walkways may consist of pavement, concrete, brick, stone, or
pavers and are intended solely for pedestrian use. Walkways are not designed or permitted for the movement,
parking, or storage of vehicles. Any hard-surfaced area primarily intended for seating, gathering, or recreation
shall be considered a patio rather than a walkway.

SECTION 10. REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES. That all ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby appealed.

SECTION 11. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. Every section, provision, and part of this Ordinance is
declared severable from every other section, provision, and part. If any section, provision, or part of this
Ordinance is held to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such judgment shall not invalidate
any other section, provision, or part of this Ordinance.

SECTION 12. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its adoption and
publication.

Adopted this xx day of xx, 2025

By: ________________________________
Thomas Fischer, Mayor

Attest: ___________________________________
Heidi Heller, City Clerk

AYES:
NAYS:

Published on: xx xx, 2025
