CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 926 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 919 OF THE ZONING CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />LITTLE CANADA TO ADD DEFINITIONS RELEVANT TO ACCESSORY BUILDING AND <br />STRUCTURES UPDATES <br /> <br />The Little Canada City Council, Ramsey County, Minnesota does hereby ordain: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Accessory Building: A building that is subordinate to and located on the same lot as the principal building, and <br />that is used for purposes customarily incidental to the principal use. Accessory buildings include, but are not <br />limited to, garages, workshops, gazebos, and storage buildings. Accessory buildings are classified as either <br />attached or detached based on their physical connection to the principal building. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Accessory Building, Attached: An accessory building that is connected to the principal building by a <br />contiguous foundation, roof, floor, or wall system. For all regulatory purposes, it is considered part of the <br />principal building. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Accessory Building, Detached: An accessory building that is not connected to the principal building by a <br />contiguous foundation, roof, floor, or wall system except for at-grade sidewalks or pathways. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Accessory Structure, Small Incidental: An accessory structure with a footprint not exceeding fifty (50) square <br />feet and a height not exceeding eight (8) feet, that is not intended for vehicle storage or human habitation. <br />Examples include playhouses, chicken coops, garden sheds, and Little Free Libraries. Small incidental structures <br />must comply with applicable placement and design standards. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Dwelling Unit, Accessory: A dwelling unit that is subordinate to a principal dwelling, located on the same lot, <br />and contained within a detached accessory building. An accessory dwelling unit may be constructed as a new <br />detached structure or by converting all or part of an existing detached accessory building, such as a garage. <br />ADUs are subject to the requirements of this code. <br /> <br />SECTION 6. Chapter 919 of the Little Canada Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to add the <br />following definition: <br />Patio: A hard-surfaced, at-grade outdoor area designed for seating, recreation, or similar use. A patio is not <br />supported by footings or posts and is not covered by a roof or other overhead structure. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
