STAFF <br />REPORT <br />To:Mayor Fischer and Members of City Council <br />From:Heidi Heller, City Clerk/HR Manager <br />Date:February 11, 2025 <br />Re:Tobacco Store License for new owner of Little Canada Smoke Shop <br />Action To Be Considered: <br />Motion to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />Tobacco Store license for new Little Canada Smoke Shop owner, Vincenzo DeRosa, for <br />the license period February 11, 2026, to June 30, 2026. <br />Background: <br />John DeRosa has owned the Little Canada Smoke Shop in the Thunder Bay Mall for 14 years. <br />He is in the process of opening another business and wants to transfer ownership of the Smoke <br />Shop to his son, who has managed the store for the last four years. <br />Vinny DeRosa has completed the application, submitted all required information, and paid the <br />license fee. A satisfactory national background check was conducted on Vincenzo DeRosa. <br />The City Code was recently amended to allow tobacco store licenses to be issued to a new owner <br />of an existing tobacco store. <br />Recommendation: <br />Approve a new Tobacco Store license for Vincenzo DeRosa, the new owner of the Little Canada <br />Smoke Shop at 27 Little Canada Road E.
