MINUTES CITY CO U NC I L FEBRUARY 23, 2005 Blesener felt the street Tight should be moved and the sign located on the middle island. He also suggested that the sign be widened and lowered pointing out that three panels of business names would be an option. Mathern noted that the sign trust be visible among all the development and it' it blends in too much, it loses its function as a sign. Mathern noted that the City Planner has indicated that the sign meets the City's architectural guidelines with the change in colors. She pointed out that they used these guidelines in designing the sign. Mathern asked what the time frame might be for moving the street light. Allan pointed out the language in the architectural guidelines relative to horizontal orientation. Allan also felt that locating the sign on the middle island would provide more balance for the site. The City Planner indicated that the sign would be more prominent on the middle island. He also noted that the guidelines call for signage to be wider than it is tall. The dimensions of the sign meet that provision. With regard to location, the Planner Felt placing the signage closer to the building as proposed de-emphasizes the signage. Therefore, he felt the location near the building was a pretty good one. Mathern noted that the signage pedestal will be constructed of stone to match the building materials rather than the brick shown on the diagram. Allan noted that the orientation of the two buildings blocks one or two of the townoftice entrances. She felt that the location of the monument sign added to this problem. Keis suggested that if the sign meet the ordinance requirements and the architectural guidelines, he did not know that it mattered where it sits. Allan felt that the middle island was the place for the sign. Blesener agreed and indicated that the sign should be lower as well. Mathern asked if the Council would act on the tenant identification signs and table action on the monument sign pending information on the timing for moving the street light. fim \•\'alstrom, State Farni insurance, appeared betbre the Council requesting that he be allowed to move his plastic logo sign from his previous location in the Market Place Shopping Center to his new location in Market Square Town Offices. Walstrom indicated his need for easy identification for clients. He pointed out that he currently has a banner up on a temporary basis since clients are having difficulty in locating him.
