Animal Control Services, Inc
1283 Hammond Road
White Bear Township, MN 55110
March 7 2005
Joel Hanson
City Administrator
313 Little Canada Road
City of Little Canada
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Joel:
It has come to my attention that your Public Works building, located at 3100 Country Drive, may be corning up
for sale. As you may know, the building I lease from White Bear Township as the dog kennel is going to be torn
down to make way for a public works expansion project. I am being forced to find a new location as soon as
possible.
My company has provided Animal Control services for the City of Little Canada for the past 11 years, along with
15 other cities in Ramsey County, Washington County, Anoka County and Chisago County.
T am interested in purchasing this building and renovating it into a modern boarding kennel for Private boarding
and Animal Control boarding. The kennel would have approximately 25 private dog kennels and 20 private cat
cages with 6 hoarding suites.
The Animal Control boarding area would be separated from the private hoarding area and there would be 30
kennel runs and 30 cat cages. The animals would be put outside from time to time to allow kennel techs to clean,
but there would be no outside boarding and their would also be animal techs walking animals daily and the feces
would be removed daily.
We propose providing three different segments of services:
1) The full services segment (VIP) boarding
2) Midrange hoarding
3) Economy boarding.
T will be increasing my staff in the event I expand my business. They will be trained in the handling of animals
through the American Boarding Kennel Association, as well as the Minnesota Animal Control Association.
Currently, I have three employees and myself. I have been in the Animal Control and Boarding business for the
past 23 years. ( feel this is a great time to expand my business and I feel the new building is in a great location for
the kennel.
I have presented a preliminary simple project plan of what I Invasion the building to look like, to some extent I
want the building to take on [he appearance of a spa and retreat for animals.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and 1 look forward to hearing from you at your earliest
convenience. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me at 612-685-2700 or my email at
Sincerely.
Richard 1..
