Hanson
Action plans have been prepared for the top seven goals from our 2005 Planning Session per
Council Direction and are included with this memo. This memo attempts to provide a short
background and commentary on the other goals developed at our planning session. They are
as follows:
Finalize Action Plan for Public Works Garage Site - The lcey to acquiring a new public
works site is the assistance in relocating the MAC Properties use (McGough Construction). I
have been in contact with Lee Rossow about the former Comfort Bus sites in Ryan Industrial
Park. He prefers to retain ownership of the property due to capital gains concerns and for
income generation potential. I will be contacting the MAC representatives to determine if a
long -term lease option is acceptable. More info will be forthcoming at our next update
workshop.
Complete Inflow /Infiltration Study and Develop Corrective Action Plan — We have made
substantial progress on this issue over the last few months. Bill Dircks of the Public Works
staff has reviewed all of our past sewer videos to look for other leak areas. What we
discovered is that the past tapes were made in low I & I months. Therefore, we looked for
cracks and sedimentation deposits that indicated past leakage. Bill has also been analyzing
our lift station pumping records and correlating them with rainfall /runoff events. Based on
this information, we have installed flow meters in areas where high 1 & I is likely. Based on
the results of these tests. it is likely we will be recommending lining a number of our lines that
appear the most susceptible 10 I & I. We are also replacing about 200 manhole covers based
on Bill's report in the April till agenda packet.
Review Subdivision Ordinance as it Relates to Environmental Concerns — This item was
made part o the Comp Plan17_oning Revision adopted goal pursuant to Council direction.
1
