COY .Yfk74 CGIZada
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766-4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little- eanada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
DATE: April 5, 2005
RE: Street Signs
MAYOR
f3ill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Bois
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Public Works Department is proposing to replace all the City's street signs with a
larger sign that is more easily read (9 inches in height). Two quotations have been
received for the signs and sign brackets. Quote totals are below:
Earl F. Anderson
M & R Signs
$16,283.43
$14,476.08
Staff has verified these quotes and would recommend award of the low quote
submitted by M & R Signs. The Public Works Department has ordered signage from
M & R Signs in the past and has been very satisfied with the product and service. It
should also be noted that many other cities as well as Ramsey County order signage from
M & R Signs. The cost of the signs will be paid from the Infrastructure Fund.
The street sign replacement program has been delayed for the past couple of years given
the time commitment the project would entail for our Public Works staff. It is proposed
that the labor for installation of the new street signs be performed through the
Institution /Community Work Crew Program in the late fall or early winter.
