MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.ci.little-eanada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: June 3, 2005
RE: Resolution Supporting Expansion of Highway 36
Attached is a letter from Neal Beets, Roseville City Manager, asking that Little Canada
support the addition of a third eastbound lane to Highway 36. It is Roseville's position
that there is additional traffic on Roseville's local streets as the result of traffic congestion
on Highway 36. Roseville believes the addition of this third lane from the western
terminus of Highway 36 to the interchange with Highway 35E will relieve traffic
congestion and reduce traffic on its local streets. Given the fact that Highway 36 runs
through Little Canada and the situation likely has the same impact in our city, Roseville
has asked for our support in this matter.
Attached is the resolution adopted by the City of Roseville. It should be noted that staff
has not reviewed nor discussed this issue. However, the request seems logical after a
quick review. If the Council supports this request, I have drafted a similar resolution for
our City and will forward it on to the State with any amendments the Council feels are
needed.
