MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 22, 2005 <br />The City Planner indicated that the Final Plats meet the requirements of <br />Preliminary Plat approval. He noted the City Engineer's comment in his <br />letter dated June 6, 2005 relative to drainage and utility easements. <br />There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Montour, seconded by Allan, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 -6 -133 — APPROVING THE FINAL PLATS <br />FOR "VILLAS AT LITTLE CANADA SECOND" AND "VILLAS AT <br />LITTLE CANADA THIRD" SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY ENGINEER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Montour, Allan, Blesener, Keis. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />AMENDMENT Blesener opened the public hearing to consider an Amendment to the <br />TO ZONING Zoning Code relative to the amount, location, and development standards <br />CODE — for outdoor storage in the Industrial -Park (I -P) District. <br />OUTDOOR <br />STORAGE Blesener reported that in March of 2005, the Council called for a <br />IN THE moratorium on outdoor storage in the I -P District to allow time for the <br />I -P DISTRICT City to study this issue, reviewing the current standards in place and <br />whether or not changes to those standards are warranted. The matter was <br />reviewed by the Planning Commission in May, at which time they <br />recommended some changes relative to screening requirements. The <br />Council then revised the matter at its May 25th meeting and discussed <br />tightening the outdoor storage standards. Given that the full Council was <br />not present, the matter was tabled until tonight. Blesener further noted <br />that at ajoint workshop of the Planning Commission and the Council held <br />on May 11th, there was discussion about the elimination of outdoor storage <br />in the I -P District entirely. Based on that discussion, the Planning <br />Commission again reviewed the issue at their June 9th meeting and <br />recommended that outdoor storage be eliminated in the I -P District. <br />Blesener noted that if outdoor storage were eliminated from the I -P <br />District, existing CUP's for outdoor storage would be grandfathered in. <br />No new requests for outdoor storage would be allowed, and if a use <br />changed on the property, the existing CUP would become invalid. <br />Blesener noted that two of the four surrounding cities do not allow outdoor <br />2 <br />
