SI RING 4ISSO(ITIT .{S
December 9, 2005
File No. 120015E -0071
Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road E.
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1633
RE: 2004 STREET & UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
CHANGE ORDER #1
Dear Council Members:
The City Council authorized Frattalone Companies to replace the sanitary sewer along
County Road D east of Edgerton Street in May of this year. A copy of the memo to the
City Council discussing the replacement is attached. The work was authorized to be
completed under a time and material cost and Frattalone Companies has provided
documentation which has been reviewed and approved by our office.
In addition to replacement of the sanitary sewer on the east side of Edgerton Street
Frattalone Companies also repaired a sanitary sewer line on the west side of Edgerton
Street. The City began experiencing problems with the sanitary sewer on the west side
of Edgerton Street during the Mn /DOT bridge project. To ensure continued service
without problems, Frattalone was again asked to make the necessary repairs to this
sanitary sewer. Upon excavation it was determined that one of the private utilities
damaged the sanitary sewer during the installation of some of their new facilities. The
City is currently seeking reimbursement for the costs from Xcel Energy, and they have
informed us that they have passed the bill to the contractor that completed the work for
them.
The total cost for the above described extra work was $50,528.54 and a summary of the
individual section costs are attached. As indicated above, we have reviewed the
detailed time and material work quantities and costs and we would recommend approval
of the attached Change Order #1 for the 2004 Street & Utility Improvements project.
If you have any questions regarding this issue please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
ELFERING & ASSOCIATES
.Ae2
Lee Elfering, P.E.
City Engineer
Ltr- 120905 -CC (CO #1) (2)
10062 Flanders Court NE, Blaine, MN 55449 - Phone: (763) 780 -0450 - Fax: (763) 780 -0452
ThUC aoaiu
