12/6/05
Dear City Council members and City Staff,
Due to a prior commitment on Monday, November 28, 2005 I was not able to attend the
meeting with regards to the reconstruction of Savage Lane. I would like to say that I am
not in favor of the reconstruction of Savage at this time. Savage Lane has been on Little
Canada's schedule to be reconstructed in 2003. I have not seen any deterioration in the
road since 2003. I do feel that there are alternatives that the city can look at, than doing a
total reconstruction of the road from Sextant to Rose Lane. I am wondering why
everything can't be milled and overlay. This would cost considerably cheaper than a total
reconstruction. With such little traffic on Savage Lane there should be cheaper
alternatives.
1 would also like to discuss the assessment of my property due to the fact that I already
have concrete curb and gutter on the south side of my driveway. The asphalt curb ends at
the south side of my driveway. I do not feel that this property should be assessed twice
for a portion of the concrete curb and gutter that is in place. This would reduce the
assessment of total reconstruction by about fifteen to twenty feet. I should be assessed
that amount for mill and overlay if the city decides to proceed with this project.
If you have any questions please call me at 651- 483 -9552.
Sincerely,
Derek Anderson
2552 Savage Lane
Little Canada, MN 55117
651- 483 -9552
