We realize this has been a very frustrating situation.
We readily acknowledge the many inconveniences you have endured beyond a "typical"
reconstruction project.
At last week's assessment hearing for Carla Lane, a number of concerns were expressed by those
in attendance. The purpose of this letter is to highlight those issues and provide updated
information to the entire neighborhood. The key issues discussed were as follows:
• The initial mailing from the City indicated a 30 -day construction schedule. Why
has the project taken so long? (There were many days when nothing happened.)
In hindsight, the 30 day schedule was obviously too aggressive. You may recall that
staff felt this may be the case as evidenced by our comments in the initial mailings that
read as follows:
Please keep in mind that all of these dates are tentative and based on optimal
conditions. The schedule is also based on the completion of Noel Drive on
schedule prior to this work beginning. If there are any problems on Noel Dr. the
Carla Lane project will be delayed.
As with any construction work, the schedule and completion of the project will be
somewhat dependent on the weather. If we have any significant precipitation, the
construction site may need to dry out prior to continuing work. We ask for your
patience with weather delays throughout this project.
Weather did prove a major hindrance. The delays caused by the June's rains pushed the
entire schedule back.
4
