MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 28, 2005
CUP &
ARCHI-
TECTURAL
REVIEW —
MAACO
AUTO
PAINTING
CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT -
2875
CENTERVILLE
ROAD —
ED NOVAK
REVIEW FOR AE SIGN SYSTEMS AT 2768 RICE STREET
SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS
OF THE CITY PLANNER AND PLANNING COMMISSION, AND
TABLING ACTION ON THE PYLON WITH ELECTRONIC READER
BOARD UNTIL THE OCTOBER 26, 2005 COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Mayor Blesener noted that Richard Reeves of Maaco Auto Painting
has withdrawn his application for Conditional Use Permit for accessory
auto retail sales of used vehicles (indoors) and Architectural Review for
his business at 3245 Country Drive.
Mayor Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider the application
for a Conditional Use Permit allowing a second garage on a property as
well as total garage space over 1,000 square feet at 2875 Centerville
Road requested by Ed and Nancy Novak. The Planning Commission
has recommended approval of the CUP subject to compliance with the
recommendations of the City Planner.
Nancy Novak, 2875 Centerville Road, reported that given the Planner's
requirement to remove the existing shed on the property, they are
proposing that the second garage be 24 feet by 28 feet. Total garage space
would remain under the 1,500 square foot Code limitation.
Blesener asked if the proposed garage met the City's setback
requirements. The City Planner replied that it did.
Blesener asked what would be stored in the garage. Novak indicated that
they would store their cars, boat, and lawn equipment in their garage
space. She indicated that they currently have two trailers that they use for
storage. One would be sold, and the other would continue to be used for
storage. Novak indicated that the trailers are used for household and
antique storage.
Allan noted that the trailers are visible from the street. Novak indicated
that the trailer is about 10 feet by 8 feet in size and could be stored within
the proposed garage. This trailer is used for hauling to and from a lake
home.
