Hanson www.ei.little-canada.mn.us MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: October 21, 2005 RE: 2005 Sheriff's Department Review In our Sheriff's Department Contract Group meetings of this past year, we conducted a goal setting session. One of the goals was to enact a service review program between the contracting group and the Sheriff's Department to ensure we are providing recognition for services being handled in a superior fashion and awareness of areas of potential concem. As a result, the attached form was created. Each jurisdiction is to complete this form. The responses from each jurisdiction will then be compiled. The contract city managers will then meet to provide an internal review of the responses to provide a consensus overview. At our December meeting, the results will be discussed with Sheriff Fletcher, Undersheriff Altendorfer, and Lieutenant Salter. I believe the City Council should provide input in the completion of this form. I would recommend one of the following options: 1. Each individual council member completes the form. I will compile the results into one document. I will then e -mail it to each of you for final comments before submitting to the Contract Group. 2. A workshop meeting is held to fill out the form with group consensus. (The only concem with this option is we need to have it in by November 10th and we only received it this week.) 3. A subcommittee of the Council (two members) could meet with me and we could complete the form together. We could then e -mail it to all members for additional comments and then submit it to the contract group after any modifications. Another method could also be workable. The choice is up to you. 1
