Hanson
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
To: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
From: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
Date: June 22, 2005
Re: Seal Coat Bids
On Monday, June 20, bids for the 2005 seal coat project were opened and read aloud.
The following bids were received:
Allied Blacktop
Bid for Little Canada Specs: $. 75/sq. yd.
Bid for Vadnais Heights Specs: $.98 /sq. yd.
Total cost for Little Canada at 54,825 sq. yds: $41,118.75
Total cost for Vadnais Heights at 68,713 sq. yds: $67,338.74
Total cost of entire project: $108,457.49
Pearson Bros.
Bid for Little Canada Specs: $.64 /sq. yd.
Bid for Vadnais Heights Specs: $.76 /sq. yd.
Total cost for Little Canada at 54,825 sq. yds: $35,088.00
Total cost for Vadnais Heights at 68,713 sq. yds: $52,221.88
Total cost of entire project: $87,309.88
Vadnais Heights had a higher bid number due to the use of trap rock and a different
bituminous material. Our specification is for granite rock and standard bituminous
material. Based on discussions I had with a couple of the seal coat contractors I have
determined that we are getting high quality seal coating with our specification and we do
not need to change it. Staff would recommend that City Council award the 2005 seal
coat project to Pearson Bros.
1
