17. INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT <br />17.010. Purpose. The purpose of the Industrial District is to <br />provide for light manufacturing, warehousing, and supportive uses in a <br />functional, attractive manner which does not unduly affect the <br />development or use of nearby properties. <br />17.020. Uses in the Industrial District. <br />(1) Permitted Uses: <br />(a) Athletic clubs. <br />(b) Electrical, plumbing, water, gas or steam fitting <br />shops. <br />(c) Manufacturing, compounding, processing, packaging, <br />treatment and assembly of products and materials. <br />(d) Offices. <br />(e) Restaurants, including those offering on -sale liquor, <br />including convenience food types. <br />(f) Scientific research, investigation, testing or <br />experimentation. <br />(g) Warehousing. <br />If the proposed use is on land primarily used for residential <br />purposes and such proposed permitted use may adversely affect the <br />residential character of contiguous property, then such proposed <br />permitted use may be denied as such, and only on a special use <br />application. <br />(2) Accessory Uses. In addition to those subordinate uses <br />which are clearly and customarily incident to the principal uses, such <br />as parking lots and off - street loading facilities, the following <br />additional accessory uses will be permitted on the lot occupied by the <br />principal use: <br />(a) Personnel service facilities providing personal <br />services, education, recreation, entertainment, food and convenience <br />goods primarily for those personnel employed for the principal use. <br />These personnel facilities do not include daycare, educational or <br />recreational services for minors. <br />(b) Signs as permitted by City Sign Code. <br />(c) On -site retail sales, but only after application by <br />the owner and determination by the Council that such retail sales are <br />not incompatible with surrounding land use and upon such conditions as <br />the Council shall establish. <br />y/ (3) Special Uses. The following uses may be permitted in the <br />//,I'\ Industrial District if the City Council determines that the health, <br />safety, and welfare of the city residents will not be endangered and <br />if nearby land development will not be unduly impaired: <br />7n <br />
