CUP FOR <br />GARAGE — <br />2875 <br />CENTERVILLE <br />ROAD — <br />NOVAK <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />SEPTEMBER 15, 2005 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 15th day of <br />September, 2005 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at <br />515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Chair Dan Knudsen called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: Mr. Dan Knudsen <br />Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Jon Hall <br />Mr. Gary Rheaume <br />ABSENT: <br />Ms. Katie Socha <br />Mr. Tom Wojcik <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />Mr. Ed Novak, 2875 Centerville Road, appeared before the Commission <br />requesting a Conditional Use Permit to allow a second garage on his <br />property as well as total garage space over 1,000 square feet <br />(approximately 1,172 square feet). Novak indicated that he would <br />put the garage at the northwest corner of his lot, which backs up <br />against 35E. Novak indicated that he would use the garage for the storage <br />of his boat and antique collection. He currently has two enclosed trailers <br />on his property that he uses for storage. <br />Duray noted that the City Planner is recommending the elimination of <br />Novak's storage shed. He also asked if there was any intended business <br />use of this garage. <br />Novak indicated that he would not use the garage for any business use. <br />He indicated that he owns a restaurant in Highland Park and would store <br />nothing on his property related to the business. Novak asked why he <br />would have to eliminate the 10 by 12 storage shed. <br />The City Planner indicated that as a condition for allowing garage space <br />over 1,000 square feet, the City eliminates any existing small sheds for <br />aesthetic reasons. <br />
