MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 11, 2005
ADJOURN
that the proposed connection between this concept development and the
Tacheny Town Office site is adjacent to her town office unit. She was
concerned about the impact on the parking spaces in front of her unit, and
suggested that if a connection occurs, it be located further to the east.
Desouky presented a letter from Renae Fry, another tenant of the Tacheny
Town Offices, opposed to the cross traffic connection.
Knudsen indicated that the City has received a letter from Azure
Properties expressing concern that the parking at the Tacheny Town
Office development is inadequate.
Matthews reported that he is a tenant of the Tacheny Town Offices, and
his business is the cause of the parking problems. Matthews reported that
he has 90 real estate agents working for him out of this location. He
recently purchased another building in White Bear Lake, and will be
moving 40 of the agents to that location. Matthews estimated that the
parking problems at the Tacheny project will be resolved within the next
two weeks when his agents relocate.
The City Planner noted that the Tacheny project was constructed under the
same parking standards as other town office project, yet this is the only
project generating parking complaints. The Planner appreciated
Matthews' explanation of why the problem is occurring.
Socha agreed with the suggestion made by Desouky that a cross access be
relocated further to the east. Desouky felt the connection should be closer
to the pond. She also indicated that the connection may help alleviate
access problems in and out of the Tacheny site.
In summarizing the Commission's comments, Knudsen noted his concern
that the town office development would preclude other redevelopment
opportunities in this area. He also noted the concern with the straight line
of buildings and the straight line of parking and the suggestion that a
creative alternative be developed and that future access to the property on
the south be provided.
Rheaume recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Seconded by Wojcik.
Motion carried 7 — 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
