MAYOR
Bill Btesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Bnubara Allan
John Keis
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.d.little-canacla.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor Btesener & Members of City Council
From: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
Date: August 29, 2005
Re: Traffic Control at Condit Rd. and Nadeau Rd.
Background
A four -way intersection has been created with the extension of Nadeau Road through to
Concetta Way. The intersection of Nadeau Road and Condit Road was a three -way
intersection that had a Yield sign at Nadeau coming from the east, a Stop sign at Condit
coming from the south, and no sign for Condit coming from the North. The extension of
Nadeau created a four -way intersection. Currently, there is low visibility from all
directions of the intersection and Nadeau Road is not aligned straight through Condit.
The additional homes being built on Concetta Way will bring increased traffic levels to
the neighborhood and buses have traditionally had a difficult time at the intersection in
question. We have heard from residents in the area who is also in favor of a four -way
stop sign to control the intersection.
Temporary stop signs have been installed to alleviate some of the concern but staff needs
council authorization to place permanent signs.
Recommendation
A four -way stop sign appears to be the best way to control the intersection from all sides
since there will be similar traffic levels coming from all directions.
CC: Residents of Burke, Condit, Nadeau, Concetta, and Yorkton Ridge
