L ThNG g. 41SSU(1 -AT-ES
August 9, 2005
File: 120054E -0240
Ms. Michaelea Oeitjen
Sunde Engineering, Inc.
4200 W. Old Shakopee Road, Suite 230
Bloomington, MN 55437 -2967
RE: ST JUDE WOODRIDGE EXPANSION
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
Dear Ms. Oeltjen:
We have received the Stormwater Management Calculations for the St. Jude Woodridge
Expansion. The submittal documents were prepared by your office and are dated
August 8, 2005. Based upon our review we would offer the following comments.
Drainage Calculations
1. The comments on the plans previously submitted included a note stating that
the access drive should be crowned. Based on this comment the drainage
area map is not accurate. The map should be revised and additional catch
basins may need to be added based on the revision.
2. The existing HydroCAD calculations include only one subcatchment for the
entire site. This subcatchment is not routed through the existing wetland and
outlet culvert resulting in higher runoff rates than actual. This should be
revised.
3. It should be noted that the proposed HydroCAD calculations do not take into
account any of the improvements for the Future Phase III. While this does
not affect the review for the Phase II improvements, outlet modifications may
be necessary in the future.
4. Subcatchment Number 11 should have a curve number of 100 over the
normal surface water area of the existing wetland.
5. The drainage area map provided was not to scale and so the plans were
used to verify areas. It appears that Subcatchment 101S, 104S, and 105S
have incorrect areas.
6. The catch basins within the proposed expansion area were modeled as
ponds in the HydroCAD calculations. The outlet pipes did not appear to
match the information on the plans. Any discrepancies should be revised.
Drops across the manholes of 0.1' should be added to the plans.
7. The outlet for the existing wetland was modeled as a 12" vertical orifice /grate.
The actual outlet shown on the plans is a culvert. This should be revised.
Ltr- 080905 -sunde
10062 Flanders Court NE, Blaine, MN 55449 - Phone: (763) 780 -0450 - Fax: (763) 780 -0452
