(:‘,+ 1" 2'4074 ceig-eaehe
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ei.little-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
DATE: August 24, 2005
RE: On -Sale Liquor License Application
The Little Venetian
MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is an application for On -Sale Liquor License from The Little Venetian. As you
are aware, there is one on -sale license available under the City's Liquor Ordinance. The
Council would have the ability to amend the Liquor Code to increase the number of on-
sale licenses at any time should additional license requests be made.
The Little Venetian currently holds an On -Sale Wine License and an On -Sale 3.2
Intoxicating Malt Liquor License which generated license fees totaling $650. The license
period for these licenses is July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. At the time of issuance
of these licenses (July, 2005), satisfactory Sheriff's Department Background Checks were
received as well as satisfactory proof of Liquor Liability Insurance. Both the background
checks and insurance would apply in the processing of the full On -Sale Liquor License
being requested.
Based on the above, it would be staff's recommendation that The Little Venetian be
issued an On -Sale Liquor License. Staff would also recommend that given the On -Sale
License negates the need for the On -Sale Wine and 3.2 Licenses, the $3,500 On -Sale
License fee be credited by the $650 already paid by The Little Venetian. Therefore, an
additional $2,850 would be required from The Little Venetian. The On -Sale License
would run through June 30, 2006.
