My first thought is that I like the price tag of updating our present
site but outside of that I don't think it's a viable option. Regardless of our water situation, I think the site is too small
and, would we grant anybody else a permit to expand a non - conforming building? I doubt it.
My favorite option is to build a new PW building if we can find an acceptable location. The problem is: who's ready to
sell and what are the soil conditions (extra costs) that we'd have to deal with. Plus, how would a nice PW building look
or fit in with the surrounding buildings if we were to get something in Ryan? I would not want to match the existing
architecture. On the other hand, this could be a way to get rid of one of the auto wholesale /retail dealers.
The Frattalone option is interesting but has a lot of maybes. If we could find something to work with either Gordie
Howe or Dave Rustad I would feel more comfortable than dealing with the charter school. I'm not sure the school fits
into an industrial type setting. Also, is the stated plan of having the present office as administrative with a new school
on the southern 2 acres a good idea? You would have the city's garage right in the middle disrupting their passage
between buildings. What happens when we or someone else in the park gets noisy? The idea of a free building is great
but where's all this money coming from and would it be a legal transaction?
I guess at this point in time we can't eliminate any option. Even the present site or the charter school. I think we need
to continue to research all options and I believe in time one or the other will pop up as best choice. I don't think that we
have enough information right now to either chose or eliminate any options.
1
