2/24/04
Petition
In conjunction with the development of the Fasciana property situated
directly north of our neighborhood, Burke Lane, Southern Slopes Addition,
the city of Little Canada is determined to link Burke Lane with the proposed
roadway within the development from Condit St. to Yorktonridge Blvd. The
city maintains the need for the link as one of egress for emergency vehicles.
In the twenty -one years of living on Burke Lane I have witnessed fire
engines numerous times maneuver the end of Burke Lane on Saturday or
weekday evening training runs. It takes no more than a three -point maneuver
for an experienced driver to make the turn- around. I believe the continuation
of Burke Lane to be detrimental to our neighborhood in many ways such as
an increase in traffic, an increase in the speed of traffic and definite decrease
in the safety of our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. I am also
quite sure the link will make our homes less desirable for re -sale in the
future This link, if granted by the city planner, will bring an end to what has
always been a quiet, private, and unique neighborhood. The kind of
neighborhood that attracts people to purchase or build homes to raise their
families. Please sign below and help stop the proposed continuation of
Burke Lane and maintain our unique and special neighborhood. Thank you.
