HandINC., 3060 CENTERVILLE ROAD, LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA 55117 651- 462 -7500
4/30/04
Dear Planning Commission and City Council Members;
As you know Slumberland has offices and warehouse space at 100 So Owasso Blvd in
Little Canada. We have a new neighbor just to the west of us. They burn wood. The
smoke from this burning makes it very difficult for us to conduct business. We have had
numerous complaints from our employees. Not only is this a distraction, but some
employees experience symptoms that make it difficult for there: to work. This is the
second letter I have sent to the City on this matter.
Today I experienced first hand what they are being exposed to. At about 10am I observed
heavy smoke pouring from the chimney. There was a light west wind. As the smoke
exited the chimney it rose about 3 -5 feet before traveling horizontally towards our
building. It followed the bank upward then up the side of our building and traveled
horizontally across the roof of our building. It was then drawn into our building by our
roof top hvac units. The smell in our A/R A/P offices was overwhelming. It smelled like
we had a smoldering campfire in our building. The smoke was so heavy that there was a
haze on the east side of our building between us and ILS. I called and left a message with
Jessica at the City offices at about 10:45 hoping someone from the City could observe
this.
I am hoping you can help with this. This nuisance is unacceptable. Please consider this as
you have your meetings. If you have any questions for me, please call me at 651 -787-
7259.
Sin erely
A 71
Dave Rosenbrook
Facilities Manager
