Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Blesener
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a letter we received from residents along County Road B2 between Edgerton and
Arcade. They are concerned about excessive speeding and the lack of enforcement. They are
also requesting a three -way stop sign at B2 & Greenbrier Circle to slow down traffic. They will
be present at Wednesday's meeting to discuss this issue with you.
In response to the petition, our Traffic Officer, Deputy Tim Entner, prepared the attached report.
He does not recommend the creation of a three -way stop. He also believes that with continued
enforcement, speeds can be reduced. Deputy Entner will increase enforcement activities in this
neighborhood to address these concerns.
It should also be noted that staff does not recommend the creation of a three -way stop sign at B2
and Greenbrier Circle. Traffic engineering standards indicate that a multi -way stop is warranted
when the intersecting legs have relatively equal traffic volumes. That would not be the case in
this situation. Stop signs for speed enforcement are generally not effective and can contribute to
greater driver frustration thus leading to other traffic problems.
I believe we have taken the appropriate approach to address this situation. The Council should
provide further direction, as you deem appropriate.
cc: Fred Smith
