I used the
historic shoreline positions, a draw -line and laser level, to measure the water levels and made
the measurements at a half -dozen points across the length of my yard.
At the state fair, I spoke with two other DNR lake experts who indicated that water lilies were
unlikely to spread if the water levels were more than 3 -4' deep. Losing nearly a foot and a half of
water level would clearly contribute to the kind of infestation we've experienced on the west side
of the lake. Hopefully, your department will be able to rectify the mistakes made in the initial
installation of the east lake drain before this resource is permanently damaged.
regards,
Thomas Day
2660 Lake Shore Avenue
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1320
651/415 -2992
twday(ausa.com
Clifton J.
