Way a Si Wanala
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
13111 Blesener
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.cilittle-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: September 16, 2004
RE: Ramsey County All - Hazard Mitigation Plan
Attached is correspondence from the Ramsey County Division of Emergency Services that deals with the
creation of a "pre- disaster mitigation plan ". As the letter indicates, we are being mandated to create a
plan that addresses issues such as extreme temperatures, infectious diseases, karst, precipitation, severe
storms, terrorism, etc. The completion date is November 1, 2004. We can either do this plan on our own
or take a multi jurisdictional approach.
Given the need to coordinate across jurisdictional boundaries, the multi jurisdictional approach makes the
most sense. Therefore, staff would recommend we adopt the attached resolution that indicates our
support for a multi jurisdictional approach, indicates our willingness to join in the preparation efforts, and
requests Ramsey County coordinate the all- hazard planning effort.
