shall be maintained around open excavations. Windows and doors must also be adequately secured to <br />prevent access by the public. <br />10. Successful bidder(s) must ensure that the Gopher State One Call has been contacted for the location of all <br />utilities within the project area. Protection of said utilities is the responsibility of the Contractor. <br />1 I. Attached is the environmental report for this site as prepared by Carolina Environmental, Inc. Asbestos that <br />was present on the site has been removed by a licensed contractor. The City is not aware of any other <br />hazardous materials on the site. <br />12. All underground storage tanks discovered must be removed by a certified tank removal contractor according <br />to all applicable rules and regulations, and in coordination with an environmental testing company hired by <br />the City to oversee and document the removal and shall include all piping. The Pollution Control Agency <br />must be notified ten (10) clays in advance of the removal. At this time, no tanks are known to exist at the <br />site(s) and price shall be negotiable upon discovery of any. <br />13. The Contractor shall accept the premises as found and clear the site as specified. The City assumes no <br />responsibility for the condition of the building on -site nor its continuation in the condition existing at time <br />of receipt of proposals for work or thereinafter. <br />14. The Contractor shall assume risk regarding damage or loss, whether by reason of fire, theft, or other <br />casualty or happening, to the specified building(s) from and after receipt of contract and issuance of the <br />Notice to Proceed, and no such damage or loss shall relieve the Contractor from contract obligation to <br />complete work. <br />15. The Contractor must ensure that water and sewer systems have been abandoned in accordance with City and <br />State regulations. The water service shall be disconnected at the building(s) and the main and the <br />building(s) must be turned off. The sewer service shall be capped off and sealed at the property line. <br />Telephone, gas, electric, cable TV or any other utilities shall be terminated under the supervision of the <br />applicable utility company. This shall include removal of any services above or below ground to any <br />equipment and all transformers, poles or switching apparatus. <br />16. There may be a septic tank on the property. The City will identify the probable location and the Contractor <br />shall remove and fill the open excavation if it exists. (This is an additional quote item.) The City is not <br />aware of any wells on the properties except those lawfully sealed. Should Contractor discover existence of <br />any well or septic system, the City shall be immediately notified to allow this condition to be properly <br />addressed. Contractor will stop work with no additional cost to City. <br />17. During demolition operation, the Contractor shall prevent dust and dirt from rising from the site by <br />appropriate means. Silt fence shall be used as reasonably necessary to control erosion and prevent material <br />from entering the City's storm sewer system and /or any body of water. <br />18. Contractor shall remove all fencing and signs including pole footings within the area of demolition. <br />Contractor shall also break up and remove all concrete or asphalt slabs or steps including parking and /or <br />drive areas and dispose of at a State - approved disposal site. Any dead trees on the property are to be <br />removed from the site in an acceptable manner. Stumps are to be removed and the disturbed area filled and <br />graded. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />3 <br />
