MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www. ci.little- canada. mn. us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: December 12, 2002
RE: Market Place Sanitary Sewer Relocation
Final Pay Estimate
I have reviewed the Market Place Sanitary Sewer Relocation Final Pay Estimate for Julian
Johnson Construction Corp. This pay estimate is for the sanitary sewer relocation to accomidate
the construction of the Garden Terrace Addition. Julian Johnson Construction Corp. has
completed all work required for this sanitary sewer relocation. The City Engineer has inspected
the work performed by the contractor and finds it to be in compliance with the plans,
specifications, and contract documents.
Due to this work being accomplished in late fall, seeding of any disturbed areas was removed
from this contract. The City of Little Canada will have this seeding work accomplished in the
spring of 2003.
The contractor has earned $37,489.50, which is significantly under the total original contract
amount of $48,804.00. Besides the seeding, we were able to reduce the cost of this project by
reducing the number of tree scheduled to be removed, eliminating the manholes to be removes
by abandoning them in- place, and reusing portions of the existing manholes thus reducing the
number of new manholes to be constructed.
Based on the above, I recommend Council approval of the Final Pay Estimate in the
amount of $37,489.50.
H: \GregSWay Estimates\l'ay Estimate Final Julian Johnson.doc
5
