Proposed Ordinance for the City of Little Canada
Pipeline setback
The purpose of this article is to protect the public from the hazards of a
pipeline leak, by requiring that new buildings designed for human use or
occupancy and their attachments must meet a required minimum setback.
Applicability
This article shall apply to any new subdivision, building, or addition
proposed to be located within 150 feet of a pipeline, 6 inches diameter or
more. However, additions to building that were constructed prior to August
25, 2002 shall be exempt from this article.
Note: This ordinance is modeled after Maplewood's ordinance. The
proposed setback is recommended by the Office of Pipeline Safety from the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety (State Fire Marshal's office).
