Hanson <br />At the June 12, 2002 City Council Meeting the Council rejected the 2002 Street and Utility <br />Improvement projects. At that time we indicated that we still needed to accomplish some work yet <br />this year. One of those projects is the reconstruction of 600 feet of Ryan Drive that have severely <br />deteriorated over the last few years. <br />In an effort to accomplish this project yet this year and possibly save the City of Little Canada and <br />the businesses along Ryan Drive some money we broke this project into two parts, earthwork and <br />paving. We contacted local contractors and requested proposals. The following is a summary of <br />what we received: <br />Palda & Son (2002 Street Project Bid) $111,101.48 (both earthwork & paving) <br />Feasibility Study Estimate $ 84,601.00 (both earthwork & paving) <br />Engineers Estimate $ 74,963.70 (both earthwork & paving) <br />Frattalone Excavating & Grading, Inc. $ 48,256.00 (Earthwork) <br />Frattalone Paving, Inc. $ 32,110.00 (4" paving) <br />Total $ 80,366.00 <br />We are still negotiating with Frattalone Excavating & Grading to lower the their cost. As a result, <br />this cost may change. If it increases above the amount authorized, we will bring it back for Council <br />review and approval. <br />The cost for this work was included in the budget for the 2002 Street and Utility Relocation that was <br />rejected. Based on the above it is requested that the City Council authorize staff to enter into a <br />contract with both Frattalone Excavating and Grading and Frattalone Paving to reconstruct <br />600 feet of Ryan Drive for a total cost of $80,366. <br />H: \GregS \Sanitary Sewer \Ryan Drive Reconstruction memo.doc <br />
