C 64 / 9r) Bare GGir2'
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
wwvw.ei.little- eanada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: September 18, 2002
RE:
Resignation from Planning Commission
Christopher Gatzke
Resignation from Parks & Recreation Commission
Carla Horwath
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Nlalt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Due to Chris Gatzke's relocation to the Boston area, he has submitted a letter of resignation from the
Planning Commission. In talking to Chris, he indicated to me that he plans to serve on the
Commission through October. Chris's term extends through December 31, 2004.
Carla Horwath has also resigned from the Parks & Recreation Commission given that she is moving
out of the City. Carla's term extends through December 31, 2002.
It would be my recommendation that during October we advertise the three terms on the Planning
Commission that expire on December 31, 2002 (ICeis, Barraclough, Wojcik) in addition to Gatzke's
term (14 months remaining). In November the Council could consider these appointments. The risk
is that the Planning Commission has an open seat during November. 1 would also recommend that
we advertise the terns on the Parks & Recreation Commission that expire on December 31, 2002
( Horwath, Larson) at the same time. Again, we may have a vacancy on the Parks Commission for
October and November. However, we streamline the process somewhat and only have one
advertisement.
